Pop Quiz: ASP Edition

Once again, this quiz will be officiated in the style of Car Talk and the Sunday Puzzle: a winner will be randomly selected from all correct responses.

{Q} In what ways is Antarctica similar to the Appalachia Service Project (www.asphome.org)? Mark all that apply.

(a) Riding in the bed of a pickup truck is strictly forbidden.
(b) Workers must be constantly reminded not to wear tank tops and short shorts.
(c) The mountains are spectacular, but the weather can be dangerous and unpredictable.
(d) Meals are served cafeteria style, and people take turns doing the dishes.
(e) The most common vehicles are 10-passenger vans and pickup trucks, often with WV plates.
(f) Acronyms are used frequently in common parlance.
(g) When working outside, it is essential to stay well hydrated and wear sunscreen.

While you're pondering, check out some construction action you'll never see at ASP: (Hopefully. Maybe keep an eye on that group leader with demolition experience.)

Good luck!

Yahoo! I am a winner. As for the prize, make it something that I can take to school and every kid there will be fascinated by it.

For the new contest, I would have to say "all of the above."

Do you get a prize, like on car talk? Anyway,
a) is a definite if there are pickups, safety first no riding in the back
b)this reminder probably NOT necessary, at least not for out of doors. Inside may be a different story, but, I would vote against this one.
c)yes on this one too.
d)Yes. MS and PhDs doin dishes must be good for the soul, just like ASP.
e)no, The WV plates probably make this answer incorrect.
f)YB! (You bet) this is a yes
g)again yes. despite the cold.

Does the winner get a snow cone? Some snow cone business here for Dave. Unlimited prodct!

a) Yes. And who would want to anyway?
b) No. I doubt the extreme ridiculousness of horny high schoolers could possibly be achieved nor are the under-aged issues present to generate such concerns. Well... I take back the first line of reasoning
c) Yes.
d) No. If you hauled you down there to do all the dirty work, I can't imagine they wouldn't have someone doing the dishes too (even if its you, its not rotating everyone).
e) No.
f) Yes. Everyone uses absurd amounts of acronyms
g) Yes. If there happens to be any exposed skin available

I am guessing that they all are similar, and that there is some story behind why you see WV plates on the vehicles in Antarctica... so do tell!

Hey Pepe! Seems a bit of a drastic difference from snorkeling the coast of Fernando De Noronha, but in regards to the ASP Edition quiz:

A) Forbidden or not, it's always done, but prob more likely to be forbidden.
B) True, if not for the warmth factor, for the safety, cuz there's always one nutter wanting to do it.
C) Obviously true, weather is unpredictable.
D) False, why else would you be there ;-)
E) That's a NEGATIVE, as they have wayyyyyyyyy cooler modes of transport in Antarctica
F)Course they do, lol.
G) TWO things that are VERY important, despite never really heeding it myself :-P

So Cheers to you mate!
